BHRLA to attend inaugural UN Business and Human Rights Forum in Strasbourg, France

The Business and Human Rights Lawyers Association (BHRLA) will be attending the inaugural Western Europe Business and Human Rights Forum in Strasbourg, France on the 17th and 18th September 2026, a significant United Nations-supported gathering focused on advancing responsible business conduct and strengthening human rights protections across global value chains. The Forum, hosted at the Council of Europe and supported by the UN Working Group on Business and Human Rights, brings together representatives from government, business, investors, legal practitioners, academia and civil society.

Discussions will address key developments affecting businesses, including human rights due diligence, implementation of the EU Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (CSDDD), stakeholder engagement, accountability mechanisms, and governance challenges linked to climate change, conflict and emerging technologies such as AI. BHRLA's participation reflects the growing importance of business and human rights issues within commercial legal practice. As companies navigate increasingly complex regulatory and stakeholder expectations, the Forum provides an important platform for dialogue on how legal frameworks can support both responsible business conduct and sustainable commercial operations.
